• Sportshall Athletics

  A group of children from Year 5 & 6 represented the school at a Sportshall Athletics event this morning at The Pods.  They competed against several other schools in a range of events and showed superb sportsmanship.  Well Done!

  

• Magna Visit

  Year 3 & 4 have been on a school visit to Magna today.  They represented the school wonderfully and thoroughly enjoyed all the scientific learning.

  

• Y2 Animal Encounter Workshop

  Y2 had a wonderful morning today meeting a range of different animals.  They especially enjoyed meeting a bearded dragon called Mindy and a snake called Francis.

  

• Meeting Benjamin Zephaniah

  The children in EYFS had a very exciting visit to the library today as they were invited to go and meet Benjamin Zephaniah.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and were delighted to meet an award winning poet and author.

  

• Civic Service

  On Sunday 12th March, three of the children from Year 6 represented the school at the Town Council Civic Service.  All three children shared their opinions on why they are proud to live in Barton.  They were all absolutely amazing!

  

• Calamity Climate Change

  To kick off British Science Week 2023, we were lucky enough to the have Arty-Fact Theatre Company perform their Calamity Climate Change production to us this morning. We thoroughly enjoyed it and learned lots about the importance of looking after our environment. 

  

• Ropewalk Gallery visit

  A group of children from Year 5 have visited The Ropewalk Gallery today to meet the artist Colin Blanchard.  Colin talked to the children about his work and then the children tried some of the techniques he uses.

  

• First Aid Training

  Over the last 2 days all of the children in KS2 have attended a basic first aid training course.  The children were all incredibly attentive in the training sessions and were keen to learn new skills.

  

• English Institute of Sport

  Fri 03 Feb 2023

  Today, 8 of our Year 6 children visited the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. The children took part in table tennis, athletics and football workshops, enjoying the opportunity to have a go at each of these activities. 
  During the tour of the venue, the children were even lucky enough to meet Galal Yafai and Lauren Price, who are both Olympic boxing champions. 
  The children all had a fabulous day and left feeling inspired about sport!

  

• Chinese New Year

  Year 6 were delighted to welcome Calvin into school today to share his knowledge about Chinese New Year.  As part of his visit we also welcomed BBC Radio Humberside who did a live broadcast to share Calvin's visit to the school.
