• Cross Country

  Children from year 3, 4, 5 and 6 went to Baysgarth school this morning for a cross country event. The children raced in separate boys and girls 3/4 and 5/6 races before girls and boys went head-to-head in two optional races. The weather was kind and the ground wasn't too muddy and we enjoyed watching some amazing performances of effort and determination. 

  

• Woodland Trust

  We are attempting the Woodland Trust's Go Green in 15 Challenge. We have successfully completed the first 5 challenges.

  

• Halloween Disco

  The children have had a wonderful time at the Halloween disco tonight.  There were lots of very scary costumes!

  

• Conker Competition Final 2023

  On the last day before the October half term holiday, we held our annual conker competition final. Children from across key stage 2 have been battling it out for a place in the final 16, and this afternoon we watched the tense final rounds until we were finally left with our winner. Well done to all the finalists for their skill and fair play.

   

  The conker competition is a Bowmandale school tradition dating back to the first year our school opened - 1978. The trophy records the names of all the winners, including one of our staff who won it when she was a pupil here! 

  

• World Mental Health Day

  For World Mental Health Day on Tuesday, everyone in the school wore something yellow to show their support and raise awareness about people suffering from mental health problems. Each class also did some work about mental health and looked at different kinds of problems people can suffer from including anxiety, depression and anger. 

  

• Harvest Service

  We were delighted to Welcome Kate Marr to lead our school Harvest Service.  A huge thank you to all of the families who generously donated to create the Harvest table.

  

• Macmillan Bake Sale

  This morning we held a bake sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our parents were incredibly generous and donated hundreds of cakes which we sold for a donation at playtime and again after school. We need to say a big thank you to everyone who supported this event.

  

• Y2 Visit to Wilderspin

  The children in Year 2 had a wonderful visit to Wilderspin Museum to learn more about life as a Victorian child.

  

• Etihad Stadium Visit

  We were delighted to take a group of Y6 pupils to visit the Etihad Stadium this week, which is the home of Manchester City Football Club.  The children enjoyed hearing more about what goes on behind the scenes and especially loved looking at the player's dressing room.
